Returned to the pickle ball court yesterday.
Last Thursday I was the lucky winner of a pink Paddletek pickleball paddle from the Dink for Pink tournament that took place on Nov. 3. My new neighbor Diana was playing in the tournament and I was happy to donate to the cause. She came over after the tournament to present me with the new paddle. I was delighted to win, and it was extra special because it occurred on our 38th anniversary. Diana joined us for a celebratory glass of wine on the lanai.
I hopped in the golf cart and headed for the pickle ball courts. Friday the club offers free lessons for beginners and I finally made the effort to get involved. There were a variety of beginners waiting for instruction. Last winter was the last time I had played so joining in the lessons refreshed my memory of the rules. It is fun to play but has a few frustrating rules such as not stepping in the kitchen. Serving and scoring takes some concentration, but I am sure it gets easier the more you play. Overall I felt good getting back into the game with only some tender ankles later in the evening. I am looking forward to the Tuesday session for continuing instruction.
